The old woman’s family had gone home crying, she didn’t have much time left.

Isabelle Jennings, a young caregiver at the Life Care Center in Kansas City, bonded with a patient over music and hymns in particular.

Isabelle routinely assisted her patient Mary Helen Schmelze, and she would go to Mary’s room every Friday and sing her a song.

Mary was having some difficulties a few months after they met. She was suffering from congestive heart failure and was on the verge of passing away.

Isabelle came over to the care center on her day off after hearing the news and sang a hymn for Mary one more time. Mary’s daughter Julie recorded the nurse aide singing beautifully for her friend. Isabelle sang “In The Garden” brilliantly.

“I adored Helen and I counted her as a friend,” Isabelle told Today, “and I knew that would be the last time I saw her.” When her family and Mary’s granddaughter learned of her condition, she consoled them.

Mary begged Isabelle to sing for her every time she saw her. Isabelle also stated that she genuinely cared about everyone and was always willing to lend a hand.

Mary Helen died just a few days after the video was shot. Julie, her daughter, posted the video on YouTube and hopes that it will encourage other carers.

Julie stated, “The nicest gift you can offer someone is your time, just your compassion.”

Please tell your friends and family about this.
