Mother-of-two previously said ‘she put on a ‘mask’ to  hide a fear of failure

Donatella Versace looked sensational as she hit the beach with three male friends in Sardinia, Italy, earlier this month. The designer, 65, showed off her slender physique as she enjoyed a spot of canoeing with her companions before the group took a dip in the crystal blue ocean. Ever the fashionista, Donatella slipped into three different bikinis that teamed a top with a plunging neckline and high-cut briefs to show off her figure.

Wow! Donatella Versace, 65, showed off her slender figure in an array of stylish bikinis as she went canoeing during her sun-soaked trip to Sardinia with friends earlier this month

She appeared to be in great spirits during the swim as she blissfully did a few laps in the ocean before stepping out to dry off, and she was given a helping hand by one of her friends as she returned to shore. The mother-of-two took on the lead role at Versace following her brother Gianni’s assassination in 1997, and she has previously spoken out about the pressure of taking over her brother’s successful business. Although her first collection following his death was a success, the brand started to deteriorate before almost going under in 2004, and Donatella admitted at the time that she experienced ‘tear-filled’ nights for many years as she was plagued by nightmares.

Relaxing: Donatella enjoyed a brief respite while out on the water, and took the opportunity to top up her tan

Revealing that she felt forced to put on a front for the fashion world as well as her staff as she took over the business, she described herself as wearing a ‘mask’ to hide her insecurity and fear of failure.
