Michael J. Fox is a beloved celebrity. He is one of the most adored and respected actors in the world, thanks to his legendary portrayal of Marty McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy and his amazing efforts raising money for Parkinson’s research.
However, even while the actor has expressed optimism about his Parkinson’s diagnosis, he is equally open about the toll it has had on his health and wellness.
It took Michael some time to accept his condition and start looking for the good in each day, but he eventually did.
Fox recently opened up about his impending death in a new interview, admitting that having Parkinson’s was “gettin’ tougher” and that he didn’t expect to live to be 80.
Fox claimed in an interview with Jane Pauley of CBS Sunday Morning that while he has made the most of his life despite the diagnosis, Parkinson’s disease is now “banging on the door.”
“I’m not gonna lie. It’s gettin’ hard, it’s gettin’ harder. It’s gettin’ tougher,” the retired actor said. “Every day it’s tougher. But, but, that’s, that’s the way it is. I mean, you know, who do I see about that?”
He said that a tumor was discovered on his spine, leading to recent spinal surgery. It was harmless, but it made it difficult for him to walk and caused an injury when he fell: “[I] broke this arm, and I broke this arm, and I broke this elbow. My face was broken. He claims that the previous few years have been challenging, but he once possessed a strong vocabulary and memorizing ability.
The last several projects he finished needed him to write many words in some circumstances, but he needed help with both.
In an interview, Michael disclosed a previously undisclosed aspect of his disease. Although he could still recollect the majority of smells, especially the scent of pine, right before Christmas, he also claimed to have lost his sense of smell.
Parkinson’s disease can be terrifying, given its vast range of symptoms. A loss of smell is one of these symptoms, which might appear months or even years after a diagnosis.
As the sense of smell is frequently connected to memories and emotions, this can be challenging for patients and their families. There is still much to learn about Parkinson’s disease, and it is hoped that new findings may help people live better lives.

But Fox announced that he would probably be returning to acting retirement in 2020, citing additional deterioration in his health.
