Mark Wahlberg leaves church, reveals what he’s giving up for Lent

Mark Wahlberg is a man of religion, as has proven apparent over time.

Despite his notoriety, wealth, and the incredible career he has built for himself, he strikes off-camera as a role model.

He is a family man at heart, and he has always been honest about the significance of his faith.

His life wasn’t always glamorous, mind you. In truth, he was traveling down a perilous path for a while. Wahlberg has a difficult childhood while growing up in Boston in the 1970s and 1980s and engaged in numerous racially motivated assaults.

He was found guilty of violence and theft at the age of 16 after robbing a convenience shop. Mark made the decision to focus on his faith while he was incarcerated in order to get through it and lead him down a better path.

“I had to make the choice personally, and then I had to focus on my faith,” he explained.

“And my faith has really allowed me to overcome a lot of things. And hard work. You know, nothing comes easy especially when you’ve got your back against the wall and you’ve got a lot going against you. But I wanted to prove to people through my actions, and not my words, that I was going to change.”

Today, Wahlberg has four lovely children and is wed to a former Victoria Secret model. In addition, the 51-year-old has a long list of notable films to his credit, such as Ted, Planet of the Apes (2001), and Transformers.

He attributes a lot of his success to his faith in God. He described how he prayed for strength to be a decent servant, dad, and spouse back in 2010.

The Boston-born actor took the time to share a meaningful message with his followers on his Facebook page as he left his local church on Wednesday.

On Ash Wednesday, Wahlberg was seen leaving the church in the video tape, which was eventually posted to social media. The actor explained his ideas for how he would observe Lent and what he would give up, and he provided an intriguing response.

Every year, Wahlberg claimed, people ask him what he’s giving up for Lent. He’s acknowledging the Christian tradition in a more unusual way for 2023, though.

The actor from Other Guys highlighted how his goal for this year is to do more rather than less.

“More love, more peace, more acceptance, more caring, and more kindness,” Wahlberg said. “Have a beautiful Lent season. God bless you all.”

Mark Wahlberg merits our admiration and acclaim, in my opinion. Few Hollywood celebrities shine quite as brightly as he does!
