Former NFL star remains unconscious after heroic efforts which saved his children’s lives

After an accident in which he saved his children from drowning, former NFL running back Peyton Hillis was taken to the hospital and is still there.

Hillis, 36, retired in 2015 following a successful six-year NFL career in which he amassed 2,832 rushing yards and averaged 4.1 yards per carry. He also has 1,050 yards and 26 touchdowns in total from receptions.

Hills was declared unconscious after the event, which happened in Pensacola, Florida, and was flown to the intensive care unit. He has been staying in the intensive care unit up to this point.

Hillis’ uncle shared a statement indicating that the former player’s condition is improving despite the reports that he is in a critical condition.

“I just wanted to let everyone know on Razorback Nation that Peyton is doing better. He’s still in intensive care and having some problems with his kidneys and lungs but the doctors say he is improving. I just wanted to head off any rumors that may be started. I’m sure he would want everyone to know that he appreciates all of the prayers being thrown up on his behalf!!!”

Hillis shares his two children with his ex-wife Amanda Hillis and is currently dating singer/actress Angela Cole, who is his co-star from the 2021 indie thriller The Hunting.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Hillis and his family as we wish him speedy recovery.
